The Kid saw:
I took this photo in Trouville, at the seafood market right next to the ocean where we had lunch. And these lobsters were still alive. One part of the claws were a little blue, and had pink bands on it. I thought that was kind of weird. It wasn’t wiggling much., even though it was alive.
The vendor let an older woman hold this lobster, so I figured if I asked, I could too. I felt pretty excited that I could get to hold a lobster even if I didn’t want to eat it, because I don’t really like to eat lobster!
The Dad saw:
The Kid is pretty curious and not at all squeamish about touching animals and other living things. Years ago when they were still a toddler, we took them to the Long Beach Aquarium and they held out their hands out to touch baby sharks, so I’m not surprised they wanted to hold this lobster at the seafood market. This lobster was wiggling a little bit, and I did notice that The Kid was staying clear of the claws, even though they were rubber-banded tight. But while The Kid held it, they giggled, excited that they got to hold one for real, and not just stare at them in a stogy old tank back at home.
